Dental New Year's resolutions
Eat better, exercise regularly and floss everyday! Three of the most common New Year’s resolutions. I want to point out that flossing everyday not only improves your dental health, but significantly improves your medical health. Decades of medical research has shown that inflammation in your gums (as evidenced by any bleeding) causes your body to release destructive inflammatory hormones that then circulate throughout your bloodstream.
These detrimental hormones significantly increase the chance of plaque (not dental plaque) in your arteries and a higher risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease. These hormones also increase the risk of Gi issues, kidney disease, cancers and dementia! If pregnant, they cause low birth weight babies as well. So keeping your mouth healthy keeps your entire body healthy!
A long term medical study concluded that flossing daily can add 8-10 years to your lifespan!!
