Importance of Routine Dental Care

Importance of Routine Dental Care

With the end of the year fast approaching, now is the perfect time to evaluate the state of your oral health. When was the last time you received an oral hygiene examination and cleaning? Most patients should receive a dental cleaning every 4 to 6 months, depending on any lasting conditions. If it has been some time since your last appointment, schedule your next visit as soon as possible. Delaying routine care increases your risk of developing tooth decay, gum disease, and other conditions.

Avoid a Dental Emergency

When you receive routine hygiene examinations, your teeth are not just cleaned, but they are also checked for signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. However, when you delay routine care, any problem areas in your mouth will continue to progress, increasing your risk of experiencing a dental emergency. Unlike other medical conditions that may improve when left without medical intervention, oral health issues will continue to worsen and decline until treatment is received. With the holiday season upon us, experiencing a dental emergency during this time is less than ideal.

Don’t Let Nerves Stand in Your Way

If you have been delaying dental care due to nerves, fear, or anxiety, please don’t let that stand in your way. Dr. Krochak specializes in treating patients who experience dental anxiety. He works with patients to help them get to the root of the problem without sedation dentistry. Unfortunately, patients who experience dental anxiety and avoid dental care enter into a vicious cycle. When routine dental care is delayed, decay and other issues develop, and the need for dental treatment arises. Receiving needed treatments can be overwhelming, especially for patients with fear and anxiety, and can intensify the fear that keeps people from receiving routine care. Dr. Krochak helps his patients break this cycle and works with them to overcome their feelings.
